Max Grillo, a DJ originally from Viareggio, Italy. Is an artist who embodies the evolution of electronic music, with a career that stretches from the 1980s to today.

This summer, Max Grillo made a stop at one of the most evocative events on the Italian electronic scene: Efimera. The event took place at the Norman Castle in Motta Sant’Anastasia, a magical location that set the stage for an unforgettable night. Max’s set skillfully blended house and techno sounds, accompanied by a refined selection of tracks that took the audience on an intense and engaging musical journey. The night was a triumph of energy and atmosphere, making the historic location even more special.

Alongside live performances, Max Grillo is also a prominent figure in radio broadcasting. As a resident of several radio stations in Italy and Spain, his sound is appreciated by a wide and diverse audience. His radio performances reflect his constant musical exploration and his desire to connect people through electronic music. His regular presence on the radio allows him to keep his passion alive and continually explore new sounds, strengthening his bond with listeners both locally and internationally.

His story begins at age 11, when he became fascinated by a mixer he saw in a supermarket near his home. Even though he didn’t know how to use it, that moment ignited a deep desire in him to own one. Two years later, the dream became reality, and Max brought home his first mixer, starting to mix with two tape recorders and a turntable. That’s where it all began.

A self-taught artist, Max started visiting music shops, listening to vinyl records. Even though he couldn’t afford to buy them all, he would sacrifice snack money to purchase one record per week. His passion led him to discover different musical genres, starting with dance and then falling in love with funky. The real turning point came when he discovered a record that would change his life: “Your Love” by Frankie Knuckles. What he was listening to was destined to become a cornerstone of house music, and from 1987 his musical vision changed radically.

Max immersed himself in the world of house and underground, passionately playing in various clubs. With the turn of the millennium, he ventured into new musical horizons, exploring techno and tech-house. However, in 2000, he decided to step away from the scene to dedicate himself to his family. It was time to pause his DJ life, but that passion never truly faded.

Exactly 20 years later, in December 2020, Max Grillo found himself back in an audio equipment store, partly out of nostalgia and partly out of curiosity. There, among modern controllers, he decided to start again. Thus, “Max Grillo 2.0” was born, an artistic rebirth that brought him back to the DJ booth, with new technology but the same passion that had driven him from the very beginning.

Today, Max Grillo is fully back in the game, continuing to explore the music scene with his unmistakable style, blending the roots of house and techno with the energy of the new digital era.
