Hellänelli Leans Into Peak-Time Tech House on New Youth Control Release ‘Mehujää’

Helsinki’s Hellänelli is back on Youth Control with ‘Mehujää’, a hypnotic tech house cut that swaps excess for precision. Out now via the Finnish label, the single sees the producer double down on rolling grooves, tight percussion and a vocal hook that’s tailor-made for late-night dancefloors.
Taking its cue from the playful Finnish phrase “on niin kuuma, että mun mehujää sulaa” (“it’s so hot that my popsicle is melting”), ‘Mehujää’ builds its identity around repetition rather than spectacle. The vocal weaves through a taut bassline and crisp, minimal drums, creating a steady pulse that grows more infectious with every bar. It’s a track that understands the power of restraint, opting for hypnotic momentum over obvious peaks and drops.
The release marks another evolution in Hellänelli’s sound. After introducing herself on Youth Control with the Leikki / Herään EP and following it with the deeper house single Valmis, she’s now stepping confidently into tougher club territory. While the tempo and energy have shifted, the careful attention to groove and atmosphere remains unmistakably her own.
Youth Control has become one of the key platforms for Finland’s electronic underground, helping spotlight artists including Roisto, Disco Despair, Rony Rex and label founders TJH87 and Cavego.
